The Tarot Cards

The known history of the Tarot Cards dates back to the 15th century in Europe. Tarot Cards appear to have originated in Italy, and shortly thereafter gained popularity in France. The most likely origin of the original Italian name Tarocchi is the location of the Taro River in the northern region of Italy where they first appeared. Tarocchi evolved into Tarot in the French and English languages. The cards represent people and events, some commonplace, some rare, in the lifestyles of the day. Tarot card games are still played in parts of Europe, although their primary use in English speaking countries is for divination. Among the earliest to recognize the usefulness of the Tarot cards for divination were the Gypsies. Usage of the cards for spiritual reading increased throughout the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries. Tarot cards have been recognized for their symbolism of various stages in our lives by such notables as Carl Jung, one of the fathers of Psychology.

Jules uses the Tarot cards as a tool. The cards provide structure and direction for the reading. Each card indicates a range possible outcomes. It is the reader's insight which focuses the signs for the seeker.
